Jana Niven joined NHPC in March of 2012. Her role is to provide engaging, educational opportunities, including NHPC's Annual National Conferences. She is looking forward to supporting and expanding NHPC's existing educational initiatives.
Over the years, Jana has educated herself on the benefits of a variety of natural health modalities to keep herself and her son, who has faced some health challenges, feeling well. In her spare time, Jana enjoys spending time with her son and continuing her work as an artist.
Jamál first came to NHPCA in 2011 as the Events Coordinator and has since broadened her scope of responsibilities to include Education opportunities. She is involved in the planning and execution of most NHPC events throughout Canada each year, including the Annual National Conference, National Workshop Series, and Connections Cafes. She also manages Continuing Education opportunities within the Centre for Learning, the NHPCA Knowledge Centre, and education webinars.
After dabbling in Dietetics and Naturopathic Medicine, Jamál received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Ecology, Majoring in Family Ecology with a Minor in Community Nutrition. While attending school, she worked with Planet Organic in both their Calgary and Edmonton locations.
Her passion for healthy food and natural living combined with her eagerness for meaningful connection with like-minded folk, made working with the Natural Health Practitioners of Canada Association a perfect fit for her.
When she's not busy planning events and educational opportunities with NHPCA, Jamál enjoys relaxing with a good book, sipping on delicious herbal teas, and/or spending time connecting with new and old friends.
Lynett joined the NHPCA team in November of 2012 and is currently the Education and Events Coordinator. In a normal day at the office, Lynett organizes delegates for events, books external resources for events, and assists members with any issues they have coordinating themselves with upcoming NHPCA events.
Lynett studied at Applied Multimedia and received her Design and Communications Diploma in 1998. Previous to working with the NHPCA, Lynett worked as an editor, designer, and book layout artist with Lone Pine Publishing; an essential oil blender with Rae Dunphy Aromatics; and a Community Outreach Coordinator with the Boyle McCauley Health Centre.
Outside of the office, Lynett is an avid camper and spends much of her summer in the great outdoors with her son, daughter, and two dogs. Her passion for music surfaces whenever she spots a new guitar that she needs to add to her growing collection.
Shingai joined the NHPCA in June 2013 and is involved in planning NHPCA events, organizing information related to events, and helping members with any inquiries relating to education and events.
Shingai holds a Bachelor of Social Science in Business Management and Economics. Before joining the NHPCA, Shingai worked in Research and Policy development for the Government in Zimbabwe, as well as customer service in St Catharines, ON. She has volunteered with the Niagara Folk Arts Multicultural Centre, the Canadian Association for Latin American and Caribbean Studies as a Policy Advisor, and as an Event Manager for Junior Chamber International Zimbabwe.
Having been raised in a culture that places great importance on natural health, working with the NHPCA combines her passion for not for profit work with her affinity to natural health.
When she is not working, Shingai will most likely be online catching up with family and friends around the world, trying a new restaurant, or attending a festival.
