Chief advisors are recognized leaders in their fields and have extensive experience across policy and strategy formation, implementation, and management, as well as clinical or health professional practice. Dr. David St. George's role is to provide professional leadership, direction, and advice on complementary and alternative medicine (CAM), as well as on the integration of CAM with conventional healthcare, particularly in the area of primary care and chronic care conditions.

The Swiss population has enshrined CAM in the Constitution. Walter Stüdeli was one of the responsible persons for the promotion of this idea, which was passed in a general referendum in May 2009. The change of the legislation is an ongoing process.
