To advocate means to speak for, act on behalf of, promote, and/or campaign for something or someone you believe in and support. NHPC regularly asks NHPC members to advocate on behalf of natural health practice modalities and for natural health practitioners.

Board of Directors
NHPC is governed by an all-volunteer Board of Directors. Any Regular member who wishes to put their name forward to serve on the Board of Directors is invited to complete an application form.

Bylaws & Policy Committee
The Bylaws and Policy Committee is responsible for reviewing and maintaining the governing documents for the Association and for recommending proposed Bylaw and Policy changes when necessary to the Board of Directors.

Competency Equivalency Exam (CEE) Proctor
Proctors facilitate and supervise the written and practical (OSCE) components of the Competency Equivalency Exam (CEE).

Continued Competency Task Force (CCTF)
The CCTF reviews the NHPC Continued Competency Program and suggests/recommends programs improvements and/or changes as required.

Credentials Committee
The Credentials Committee discusses and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors on issues arising which deal with terminology, credentialing, education, modality recognition and other modality issues as they arise.

Education Advisory Group
The Education Advisory Group reviews NHPC educational programs and assists the NHPC Events and Education department with speaker, workshop and learning product selection. This Group will also assist with development of educational standards for NHPC Centre for Learning and makes suggestions for education strategic direction.

Leadership Committee
The Leadership Committee is a committee of the Board of Directors and is responsible and accountable for facilitating the nominations process for the Board of Directors and facilitating leadership development.

Motor Vehicle Accident Insurance Group (MVAI)
The MVAI Group undertakes and provides research, discusses relevant issues and prepares materials needed for government requested meetings, provide support as needed to assist Alberta massage therapists in working with the Motor Vehicle Act.

Natural Health Practitioners Awareness Week (NHPAW) Group
The NHPAW Group develops and delivers story and events ideas that celebrate NHPAW. NHPAW is held the 3rd week of each January.

Research Surveys and Projects
In support of natural health research and education, the NHPC supports and engages in research initiatives. NHPC’s current research priority is the completion of the NHPC Practitioner and Patient surveys. Participation in these surveys involves completing an online survey and/or encouraging your clients to complete the survey.

Steering Committee for Regulating Massage Therapy (TSC)
The TSC as a whole represents the profession of Massage Therapy in the province of Alberta and is fundamentally vested in the protection of the public best interest. The TSC is accountable to the Government of Alberta’s Ministry of Health and Wellness, which in turn is responsible for protecting the public best interest. This TSC is charged with transitioning the profession of Massage Therapy in the province of Alberta from non-regulated to regulated under the Health Professions Act.
