A Continued Competency Program works to ensure that practitioners provide competent and safe care. It is a program that helps to ensure practitioners are able to fulfill their obligations to clients/patients ethically and responsibly through their knowledge, ability, skills and judgment and where existent, standards of practice.

Compliance with the CCP is monitored through a Random Audit Process. Members who are selected for the audit will be notified of their inclusion in the audit by letter. Members selected for the audit will be advised that they must submit the required audit materials in order to have their renewal applications processed. The letter will outline the CCP materials required for the audit.

Audit materials will be reviewed and assessed to determine if members have met the CCP requirements. The results of the audit will be noted in the association database and members will be notified in writing regarding the outcome of their audited materials. Any follow-up required with members will be undertaken by the NHPC Membership Department.
 

As a health care professional, you should have basic First Aid and CPR. Natural health practitioners are health care professionals.

Members of the public are placing their trust in natural health care practitioners to look after them while they are in their care. It is best to be prepared in case a medical emergency happens to someone in your care.

No. If your certification or re-certification learning includes CPR/Ethics/First Aid, you do not have to take additional learning in these areas. This credit requirement will be considered completed. You will need to send a copy of your certification/re-certification for record keeping purposes.

Depending on the type of learning you take, a certificate may not be the NHPC submission requirement. In many cases, the NHPC "Self-Evaluation/Practice Integration" Form is the submission requirement.

Although a continued competency submission may be awarded continued competency credits, NHPC will only provide modality recognition and member insurance coverage for completion of NHPC recognized programs.
