CCP Frequently Asked Questions

The Natural Health Practitioners of Canada's (NHPC) Vision, Mission, and Values call for both professional excellence and accountability in the natural health professionals it represents.

To help support this direction, the NHPC has a mandatory Continued Competency Program (CCP) for all Regular members. The NHPC monitors its members' continued competency activities through a credit allocation system.

Regular members are required to earn 20 credits every two years, comprised of the following:

  • 5 credits (in total) for Ethics, CPR, and First Aid combined
  • 15 credits for continued competency activities completed through any of the Learning Types detailed in the Program Chart in the CCP Guide.
    • 10 of these 15 credits are required to be with the member’s Modality Domain, which is indicated in the Modality Domain Chart in the CCP Guide.

The avenues available to earn these credits are flexible and members must decide which activities to pursue to complete the requirements.

To monitor its members' continued competency activities, the NHPC conducts random audits, where selected members are required to submit documentation to demonstrate their continued competency activities.

To help support its members' continued competency, the NHPC website lists courses and workshops from across Canada. The NHPC also has learning modules, webinars, hosted workshops, and conferences, to ensure members have a variety of learning opportunities.

The CCP Guide  outlines the program, explaining the allocation of credits through Learning Types and provides a chart of modalities and domains. It also includes the necessary forms and checklists to assist our members with their submission of credits.
