Myo-fascial Cupping is a fabulous addition to the toolbox for Massage Therapists. Myo-fascial cupping is a modified version of the ancient eastern-style cupping. Major differences include targeting the musculoskeletal system rather than meridian systems used by traditional Chinese practitioners and using the cups in a moving sequence, rather than stationery.
Myo-fascial Cupping also saves the hands of the MT and suction can be varied using a vacuum gun which dictates the level of negative pressure from deep to very subtle, allowing the MT to cup in areas not normally associated with traditional flame cups. This workshop is a must-do for the professional therapist seeking a change from the ‘thumb busting’ day in day out approach.
Presenter David Sheehan has a Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Movement), Diploma of Health Science (Remedial Massage) and Diploma of Education. His career highlights include working as a lead sports trainer with various football clubs, which included the use of vacuum cupping for both prevention of and treatment for injuries. David now teaches his own energy efficient and effective cupping techniques in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the Unites States.

Abhyanga" -- the ayurvedic oil massage -- is an integral part of the daily routine recommended by this healing system for overall health and well-being. Here's what the ancient ayurvedic texts says -- "Receive a oil massage regularly or give yourself a full body oil massage on a daily basis. It is nourishing, pacifies the doshas, relieves fatigue, provides stamina, pleasure and perfect sleep, enhances the complexion and the luster of the skin, promotes longevity and nourishes all parts of the body".
Ayurveda is a practical science that demonstrates to us that when we understand the wisdom of the 5 elements and their relationship on our internal and external worlds, we can achieve great health. We will learn about these practical applications. In ayurvedic bodywork, there is a great emphasis around the head, neck, shoulders and scalp – this is where we hold all vital nervous system functions, which require pacification. Students will receive a full head and body massage using nourishing organic sesame oil, a body oil revered in India for its penetrating benefits to all tissue layers.
Participants should be prepared to:

Marma Chikitsa - the ancient ayurvedic system for pressure point bodywork- this course will take you into the theoretical and practical realm of Ayurveda’s Tridosha System’ of the 108 Vital Points.
According to eastern Ayurvedic science, the human body is a biological combination of the five elements – Ether, Air, Fire, Water and Earth. The combination of Ether and Air form Vata, Fire and Water form Pitta and Water and Earth form Kapha.
Ayurveda further categorizes each dosha into subtypes (or subdoshas), depending upon their function and location. Marmas are portals into the multidimensionality of life. As junction points between consciousness and physiology, they provide a window into interchangeability of energy and matter.
This workshop will explore how marma therapy supports and complements ayurvedic and yoga therapies, and we will all get an opportunity to experience the power of marma through learning a simple full body protocol.
Clothes are worn for this training and students can bring along their notebook, tea or water, their meditation cushion and a blanket.
