Workshop Description

This is a comprehensive foundation course that covers all cupping tools and styles. You will learn a wide variety of skills and techniques to help your clients and practice, including:

  • how to safely and effectively use suction type cups in your daily practice as a highly effective adjunct therapy
  • an introduction to the original fascia trains: the ancient sinew channels
  • how to use both powerful plastic and versatile silicone cups, with the opportunity to try glass fire cupping under direct supervision

This course will provide you with the skill to use these versatile tools immediately, as well as:

  • history and benefits of cupping
  • how to prepare the therapist and patient for cupping
  • cupping procedure and methods
  • precautions and contraindications
  • client education and informed consent

Some protocols that will be taught include:

  • myofascial release as well as softening and joint treatments
  • trigger points and active release techniques
  • organ system balancing and detoxification
  • lymphatic drainage and cellulite treatment
  • cupping face lift with skin firming and spa applications

About The Presenter

Winona Mondor is a practising registered nurse, massage therapist, and acupuncturist. She has been using cupping for 23 years and has taught cupping workshops across Canada since 2012.

International students have travelled to Winona just to learn her techniques and her unique perspective, based on ancient classical Asian medicine. Her students have enthusiastically adopted her techniques and teachings into their practices.

Training in massage or a  related modality that has studied human anatomy and client ethics.

Materials to Bring

Note: Please refrain from using perfumes or scented hair products

  • snacks and water
  • massage Table
  • inside shoes or slippers
  • a set of linens
  • pillow or bolster
  • Kang Zhu cup set (available for purchase from instructor for $65)
  • chest towel, head towel, and hand rags or paper towels to wipe excess oil off of your hands and wipe your cups
  • large steel bowl or plastic tub with lid (to put cups when in use or transport)
  • unscented massage oil or lotion (should have a long lasting glide)
  • cups or Gua sha boards (if you own one)
  • pen and notepads
