Joint Mobilizations Nerve Tensioning, and End Range Loading for the Hip and Lower Extremity

Course Description:

This 14 hour couse is designed to give the learner a good understanding of the practical applications of treating and managing difficult, however common, conditions in the general population. These include but not limited to:Osteoarthritis, Labrum tears, joint restrictions, hip Adhesive Capsulitis, knee injuries, Metararsalgia, Hallucis Valgus, Tibialis posterior tendon weakness and tendinopathies, Plantar Fasciitis and Morton's Neuroma. Learn the theory and application of End Range Loading Techniques, Nerve Tensioning and Joint Mobiizations. This is to improve range of motion, balance, proprioception, and nerve function, to reduce pain and increase functional activities. All this is incorporated around patient centered care. 

Course Objectives:

The participant will have the opportunity to be able to apply/manage/treat/discuss......

1. The indications, contraindications and safety with the application of said techniques for the patient and therapist.

2. Principles in applying End Range Loading ,Nerve Tensioning and Joint mobilizations.

3. Proper instruction on how to use a mobilization belt

4. Quick methods of assessment for the lower extremity, to include active and passive range of motion. 

5. Perform reflex testing, grading and its clinical significance.

6. Assess for leg length discrepancy using multiple methods for reliability. 

7. Perform assessment and function of the ankle and foot. 

8. Joint mobilizations for the SIJs, hip, knee and foot.

9. End Range Loading for the SIJ, hip, knee and foot

10. Nerve tensioning for the lower extremity.

11. Discuss and treat common conditions a massage therapist seen for the lower extremity. 

12. Discuss/Practice patient centered care, and its clinical significance.
