Thai Tok Sen Massage

Thai Tok Sen Massage introduces students to a distinctive Northern Thai Lanna healing practice that focuses on the body's sen energy lines through rhythmic tapping with traditional wooden tools. Rooted in Traditional Thai Medicine, this course presents Tok Sen as a meaningful healing art, emphasizing understanding and intention over rote memorization. In addition to hands-on techniques, students explore the cultural background, theoretical framework, and purpose that give this practice its unique depth and character.

Participants gain experience using traditional mallet and wedge-style tools to create controlled, rhythmic vibrations that release tension, engage the sen lines, and promote a deeply meditative treatment experience. The training provides step-by-step instruction for a 60-minute Tok Sen massage in supine, side-lying, and seated positions. It also introduces additional full-body techniques to help students develop confidence and refine their practical skills.

A standout feature of this program is its well-rounded curriculum. Beyond the massage sequence, students dive into the theoretical foundation of Tok Sen and its cultural roots in the Lanna region of Northern Thailand. Topics include oral traditions, the significance of tamarind wood tools, the "thunder wood" legend, and the use of blessings or mantras in certain lineages. The course includes on-demand video lessons, full-text articles, downloadable resources, and a digital workbook to support both hands-on practice and deeper understanding.

This 18-hour training is open to all skill levels, with no prerequisites. In-person classes are limited to 8 students to ensure personalized instruction. The program features hands-on practice, an online curriculum, a printed handbook, and opportunities to work with client volunteers before the final practical exam. Graduates earn 15 NHPC CECs. Tuition is $540 plus GST and includes lifetime online access, a printed handbook, and a certificate.
