Power of assessment is returning to teach assessment practices, treatment approaches with
measurable outcomes for the head, neck and shoulder.

The first in the series is to discuss a variety of conditions, pathologies and symptoms of the
head, neck and shoulders and a brief review of some headaches.
Later, we focus specifically to variety headaches, symptoms and their plausible causes. This is
where we begin to introduce some manual practices into treating different types of headaches,
based off of an assessment practice.

Next we discuss cervicogenic headaches vs migraines. Migraines are a type of headache that
can cripple individuals that experience them for several hours or even days. As a RMT, many of
us may have had clients cancel, due to clients experiencing a severe migraine. Nausea,
dizziness, sometimes vomiting and sensory hypersensitivity can cripple the sufferer. This
webinar is written to explore different types of migraines, triggers, palliative vs provocative
factors and how a RMT can aid or educate a client in understanding and treating migraines.

However, newer studies suggest cervicogenic headaches often are under-diagnosed
due to the nature and symptoms similar to migraine headaches. So we’ll explore and
compare both conditions to aid in differentiating them and from this, we may be able to
dramatically aid our clients to make migraine type headaches more manageable.

Finally we’ll review and briefly discuss shoulder conditions and limitations. For many therapists,
shoulder conditions can challenge even solid clinical knowledge, often resulting in unsatisfying
treatment outcomes. Is it a tear? Impingement? Arthritis? Tendonitis? Or could it simply be poor
biomechanics? What if it’s none of these—and instead a referred pain from another area?
These sessions aim to help you differentiate between neurological, muscular, and
skeletal sources of both acute and chronic shoulder pain. While our focus is on the shoulder, the principles discussed can be applied broadly across the body.
