Effective communication is essential to provide competent, safe, high-quality holistic health services.
Language proficiency enhances public protection by ensuring that NHPC members can communicate effectively with clients, other members of a health care team, the insurance industry, law enforcement, member associations, and regulatory colleges.
NHPC members also need to be able to understand NHPC materials related to the Code of Ethics, NHPC policies, member responsibilities, Association Bylaws, and the Continued Competency Program.
For these reasons, when applying for membership with the NHPC, all applicants must provide documentation demonstrating they meet the Association's language proficiency requirement.
An applicant may meet the NHPC's language proficiency requirement by providing proof of one of the following:

|TOEFL iBT||95 (20 minimum in each component)|
|TOEFL CBT||240 (minimum essay score 4.5)|
|CLBPT||8 (7 in writing)|
Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search completed within the last 90 days. This can be done at any police service location or RCMP location in the jurisdiction where you currently reside (proof of residency may be required). You will upload this when you submit your application.
