About this Guide

As more and more people are taking control of their health, they are seeking holistic health practices. The NHPC believes that treatment of the whole body can create the balance of mind, body, and spirit that results in optimal health.

With hundreds and even thousands of years of evidence and research behind many of these practices, their benefits have been proven over time.

Practices are listed in this guide alphabetically and provide a history of the practice, a definition, a treatment section, and reasons to explore the practice.

The Natural Health Practitioners of Canada does not endorse one practice over another to address certain conditions. Every client reacts differently to specific practices. One practice might be more beneficial to one client than it is to another. This guide represents NHPC recognized holistic health practices.

A level of training that includes every competency component needed to safely and appropriately apply the treatment.

An additional treatment that first requires the practitioners to be trained in an appropriate related discipline.
