Important updates to Saskatchewan massage therapy regulation

Forming a Regulatory College in Manitoba

In Manitoba, a collaborative process for regulation has been underway between the NHPC and the Massage Therapy Association of Manitoba (MTAM) for many years.

In 2015, the collective effort resulted in the government accepting the recommendation for the profession of Massage Therapy to be regulated in Manitoba.

Since the decision by the government was made, the two Associations addressed key issues in an updated report to government. These include:

  • educational standards for applicants and members
  • levels of competency for therapists
  • entry requirements
  • review of costs, expenses, and fee structure for the College

The NHPC and MTAM currently await further direction from the Government of Manitoba on the next steps towards forming a College.
