This thorough course on the lymphatic system builds practitioner confidence and clarity. It will discuss:
- case studies often seen in massage therapy
- what is within the scope of practice for massage therapists
- how to identify when to refer a client to a lymphedema specialist
This course will also give therapists an insight into the types training available in Canada and act as a building block to working towards becoming a specialist.
This course does not certify participants as a Lymphedema Specialist, but it does provide them with a deeper understanding of the lymphatic system and confidence when working with clients with edema.

About the Presenter
Kelly Cabrera believes in self improvement, leadership, and growth. Throughout her 15 years working as a registered massage therapist, clinic owner, and massage mentor, she has continuously advanced her massage and business skills.
Kelly earned a diploma in Massage Therapy with honours from Lethbridge College in 2010, and she now practises a variety of modalities with multiple massage technique certifications. She assisted with the practicum program at the Lethbridge College from 2015 to 2016, an experience which sparked her interest in becoming an educator.
Kelly opened Breakthrough Massage Academy to provide unique, accessible, and engaging continuing education courses to therapists. What shapes Kelly is her drive to always learn more, develop her skills, and pass them on to the next generation of massage therapists so that they can have long and thriving careers.
Pre-requisite
Massage therapy certification or similar.
Items Required
You must have a device with camera (smartphone, laptop, tablet, etc.) that you can access Zoom on. A Zoom link will be emailed to students prior to class.
A massage model is required to follow along while the instructor performs hand placement and routines. Model work is scheduled the last 3 hours of class.
A digital student booklet with over 45 pages of notes and images will be provided by the instructor.
