Make the Most Out of Your Professional Membership

Whether you are a massage therapist or other holistic practitioner, chances are you maintain membership with a professional association that recognizes you for your education and competency.

Many therapists maintain their membership simply to have their treatments reimbursed by insurance companies; however there are many other benefits to NHPC membership.

For 30 years, the NHPC has served its membership in many ways. We offer several benefits to our holistic community. Here are some ways you can make the most of your membership!

Talk to Us

We are always open to ideas about how we can make membership with us even better. We encourage our members to call or email — or even better, visit us — to share their visions for the future of the NHPC and let us know how we can enhance their experience with us.

The NHPC hosts Connections Cafes throughout the year across the country, as well as online. These meetings are designed to connect our members with others in their holistic health community, update members on initiatives, and connect members with NHPC staff.

Most importantly, these meetings are an opportunity for members to share  ideas, concerns, and successes with us! All feedback is significant when decisions that shape the future of the NHPC are made.

Get Advice

The NHPC practice competency team brings over 40 years of experience in the holistic health field to our members. They offer members advice on everything from how to run a business, advertise, and keep records to questions about ethical dilemmas.

Members are encouraged to take advantage of the wisdom this team offers, even if it just to get a second opinion. The NHPC is committed to helping its members achieve the most rewarding and professional careers possible.

The NHPC has a partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities ® Northern Alberta. We are always looking for dedicated therapists to offer complimentary treatments to families and children staying at the House.

We feature blogs and articles on topics of interest to both the public, and to practitioners of holistic health and we are active on many social media platforms.

The Association requires its members to participate in the Continued Competency Program (CCP) to ensure members meet the NHPC's professional standards. Members are able to customize their learning activities to be in line with their personal interests and professional goals.

Keep Learning

The NHPC offers incredible workshops throughout the year, and members receive discounted rates on all of them. We also offer some free courses, workshops, and webinars to members to help them meet their CCP requirements.

The NHPC Annual National Conference brings in world-renowned speakers and presenters. In addition to being a great learning experience, the conference is a remarkable opportunity to network with other therapists and enjoy a few days immersed in a community of like-minded people.

Further, the destination conferences organized by the Association offer members the chance to travel to beautiful locations and experience local culture while expanding their professional skills or learning a new modality.

Advocate for Holistic Health

We are passionate about advocating for our members to all levels of government and the insurance industry. The NHPC is constantly undertaking initiatives to ensure our members are recognized for their competencies and are treated fairly and equitably.

There are many ways you can be an advocate for holistic health professionals, including participating in awareness campaigns, serving on committees, and sharing the benefits of holistic health with the public.

Save Money

The NHPC offers discounts with various providers on popular products and services including home and auto insurance, gym memberships, extensive health benefit plans, and mobile contracts. Taking advantage of these services could save you a lot of money.

The NHPC also offers a referral discount of $50 to members for every person they refer that becomes a regular member. The discount is applied to your next year’s membership dues, and you  are able to refer up to six people every year.

That means if you refer six therapists who become members you will receive the following years membership at no cost!

Don't worry if you aren’t able to refer people. The NHPC recently lowered its membership fees to be more affordable, so you are already saving money.

Use your membership to its fullest. Take the opportunity to help shape the future of the Association, learn from accomplished practitioners, get involved with initiatives, and promote the benefits of holistic health to Canadians.
